This is an essential role within the service, to ensure all hydrants remain fully operational, throughout Merseyside.
Key responsibilities include; testing, maintaining and inspecting hydrants, together with carrying out dry repairs to service hydrants, replacing lids renewing of framework and changing outlets. In addition the role is required to maintain and repair hydrant marker systems and be on call withing normal work hours, for emergency repairs, such as tripping hazards and missing lids.
Whilst not essential, it is desirable applicants’ possess a basic health and safety qualification and a City and Guilds – Streetworks Excavation and Reinstate certificate. A good geographical knowledge of the Merseyside area is required and a basic understanding of water pipe systems and service water requirements.
The ability to work unsupervised and be able to demonstrate initiative and good organisational skills are essential requirements.
