Our Marine Rescue Unit operate on the River Mersey and respond to all types of incidents along its length. As well as performing rescue operations, our Marine Rescue Unit will carry out operations to protect the environment from hazardous materials and will support the safety of crafts on the river.
The Unit are looking to recruit a Crew Member to join their team and contribute to its important work. This is a development role therefore no prior experience of working in a similar role is required. As long as you are confident in and working in water; highly resilient in challenging circumstances and enjoy working as part of a wider team, then this could be the opportunity for you!
Salary
Remuneration is the basic sum of £27,450 per annum plus allowances.
Once fully trained and competent the salary rises to £33,116 per annum plus allowances.
Hours
42 hours per week.
Crew Members are required to complete (on average) a total of 182.5 x 24 hours duty periods per annum
Under the duty system each 24 hours period 0800 – 0800 will consist of two linked elements:
1 x 12-hour day element (core response period)
1 x 12-hour night ‘sleeping-in period’ (night element)

Selection Process:
Stage One: Selected candidates will be required to undertake a fitness test and role related simulated aptitude tests in water. If you are selected for this fitness test, you must be available, all day during Monday 16 June 2025.
Stage Two: Interview, date to be confirmed, following the outcome of the fitness testing.
